Notable Features of Double Suction Pumps

Double suction pumps have the following notable features:
First, it is equivalent to two single-stage impellers of the same diameter working at the same time, and the flow rate can be doubled under the same outer diameter of the impeller. Therefore, the flow rate of the double-suction pump is larger.
Second, the pump casing is opened horizontally. There is no need to disassemble the motor and pipeline during maintenance, as long as the pump cover is lifted, so inspection and maintenance are convenient. At the same time, the water inlet and outlet of the pump are in the same direction and perpendicular to the pump axis, which is beneficial to the arrangement and installation of the pump and the water inlet and outlet pipes.
Third, due to the symmetrical structure of the impeller, the axial force of the impeller is basically balanced, and the operation is relatively stable in this sense.
Fourth, the impeller and the pump shaft are supported by the bearings at both ends, which requires the shaft to have high bending and tensile strength. Otherwise, due to the large deflection of the shaft, vibration is prone to occur during operation, and even the bearing is burned out and the shaft is broken.
